Oh College Board, I love it when you send letters. Especially test score letters. Whether the numbers are good or bad I get a heart attack anyways. It’s something about that clean, white, ominous envelope…
So I’m going to go on an exciting hunt through my iPod touch and the internet to find myself (and you) some hardcore blues.
Find 1: Jilted/The Rise and Fall of Ruby Woo/The Puppini Sisters

Okay, no surprise here. Did you know their name is a tribute to the Andrews Sisters? I didn’t. Anyways, I always get goosebumps when I hear that 1940′s swingy close harmony. Does it count as blues? I can’t answer that one.
Find 2: Down in the Valley/Greatest Hits of the Millenium/The Andrews Sisters

I’m just still caught up in the fact that they’re actually sisters.
Find 3: Down So Long/Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers/Live At B. B. King’s, Memphis
“I’ve been down so long, but I’m on my way back up again.” (Oh, and Honey Piazza is absolutely amazing.)
Find 4: Four Thirty-One A.M. Blues/Fred Kaplan/Signifyin’
Piano + drums + bass + blues = melting.
Find 5: Blues Everywhere/Memphis Minnie/Queen of the Blues

A female blues guitarist/singer/songwriter? Really? So awesome.
Find 6: Good Morning, Heartache/Billie Holiday/Billie Holiday’s Greatest Hits

“Good morning, heartache, what’s new?” You can’t do jazz blues without Billie Holiday.
If you’ve got those Monday blues straight through Sunday Blues (Good Morning, Heartache/Billie Holiday), then pick up some of these tunes. :)
CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: Yesterdays/Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band/Act Your Age/(these guys are absolutely amazing live)
